Roundtable of Sustainable Biomaterials
RSB’s involvement in the ALIGHT project has been an invaluable opportunity both to contribute and to grow as leaders in sustainable aviation. As a non-profit association dedicated to helping different sectors transition to bio-based solutions, RSB applied its rigorous sustainability framework, centered on 12 guiding principles.
RSB played a key role in launching the Sustainable Airport Platform, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing between airports and aviation stakeholders striving for greater sustainability. Their contributions included developing practical guidance and tools, now part of ALIGHT’s toolbox, and advancing research on topics like the non-CO₂ impacts of SAF and airport engagement with various innovative market mechanisms that help accommodate SAF.
Through ALIGHT, RSB gained valuable insights from international collaboration and reinforced the growing importance of sustainability in aviation. Their experience emphasises that sustainable transformation must go beyond the product itself, but also address people, ecosystem health, and long-term resilience.
